02 / Why This Conference Exists

One patient journey should not be divided into isolated specialties.

  1. Hormones affect surgery

A thyroid disorder doesn’t end at a lab result. Every number changes indication, timing, and risk. Yet endocrinology and surgery are rarely taught in the same room.

  2. Surgery affects voice

The RLN runs millimetres from the field. Voice is an outcome to protect, not a complication to document.

  3. Voice affects identity

A teacher, a parent, a public speaker. Voice is how a person is known to the world.

  4. Real patients experience the full journey

Diagnosis to operating theatre to recovery.

Beyond diagnosis. Beyond surgery. Beyond The Thyroid.

04 / Why It Matters

Why this conference stands apart.

A Connected Clinical Journey

Endocrinology, head and neck surgery, and laryngology brought together around the complete patient journey.

Across Specialties & Career Stages

A shared learning space for consultants, clinicians, researchers, residents, interns, and medical students.

Under Official Academic Supervision

Held under the supervision of the Saudi Society of Head & Neck Surgery and Thyroid Oncology, with four senior consultants directly overseeing the scientific programme.

Voice as a Primary Outcome

Vocal and airway outcomes are central measures of surgical success, connecting treatment decisions with the patient’s voice, identity, and quality of life.

Hands-On Clinical Practice

Real instruments, ultrasound-guided diagnosis, and voice recordings across three practical workshops built around clinical skills.

A Place for Your Research

Poster presentations connect registered delegates with faculty and colleagues for discussion, feedback, and recognition.

05 / Hands-On Workshops

Real Practice. Real Skills.

Every Workshop
Both Conference Days

All three workshops are offered on 9 and 10 April 2027, alongside the two-day lecture programme. Choose your preferred workshop and day when registering. Day 1 sessions begin at 15:40 and 16:50; Day 2 sessions begin at 16:00 and 17:10. Availability will be confirmed before booking opens.

Who can present?

Poster presentation is open to registered conference delegates. The presenting author must register for the conference — free of charge — to present an accepted poster.

A · Eligibility, authors & general rules

Include the full author list in the agreed order, with affiliations. Name one presenting author from that list. The presenting author does not have to be the first author.

Include all authors who contributed to the work — there is no limit on co-authors per abstract.

  • Submission method: submit electronically through the submission form on this page. Emailed submissions will not be reviewed.
  • Language: abstracts and presentations must be entirely in English.
  • Prior presentation or publication: allowed — work presented at another national or international scientific meeting, or published in a journal before this conference, may be submitted.
  • Ethical approval: all clinical and animal research must comply with the National Committee of BioEthics (NCBE) guidelines. Authors must confirm that Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval or exemption was obtained.
  • Registration: the designated presenting author must register for the conference (free of charge).
  • Limits: each author may submit a maximum of 2 abstracts. The presenting author must be clearly designated during submission.
B · Abstract format & structure
  • Title: brief, descriptive, and in Title Case — e.g. Surgical Outcomes of Central Neck Dissection in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. Maximum 50 words. No abbreviations in the title.
  • Blinding for peer review: the review is double-blind, so do not include author names, affiliations, or specific hospital names in the abstract text. Enter author names, affiliations, and a contact email in the form fields instead.
  • Word limit: the abstract text must not exceed 350 words.
  • Structure: organise the abstract under four headings:
    • Background / Objectives — a brief statement of the study’s purpose and the current state of the literature.
    • Methods — study design, setting, participants, and statistical analysis.
    • Results — primary findings with specific data, sample sizes, and p-values where applicable. Avoid vague statements such as “results will be discussed”.
    • Conclusions — a concise statement of the clinical implications.
  • For case reports: background, case description, discussion, and conclusion.
  • Media: tables, graphs, and images are not permitted in the abstract.
  • Use anonymised information and obtain the relevant approvals for the work.
  • Submission dates: 20 October to 16 December 2026.
C · Poster presentation
  • Category: when submitting, select the research category that best fits your work — e.g. Head & Neck Surgery or Medical Endocrinology.
  • Format: a traditional in-person poster, displayed in the Exhibition Hall.
  • Poster Walk: each presenter is assigned a 20-minute window to stand by their poster and discuss it with attendees and judges.
D · Poster criteria & delivery
  • Formatting: add the Beyond The Thyroid logo to your poster before submitting it.
  • Mandatory disclosures: your second slide, immediately after the title, must be a Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure. If you have nothing to disclose, it must state: “The author(s) have no financial or commercial conflicts of interest to disclose related to this presentation.”
  • Poster submission: after your acceptance is confirmed, email your poster to beyondthethyroid@gmail.com with your name, poster title, and contact information. Our team uploads all posters to the conference Drive, and your poster is displayed during your scheduled session.
  • On-site equipment: personal laptops (e.g. MacBooks) cannot be connected at the podium. A designated computer will hold all submitted content.
